The hospital currently receives over 50 patients a day on annual averages. The number increases to about 100 during outreaches and special clinics. Being the only facility of its size and ability in this area, the impact of the hospital is huge. The community cannot do without this vital resource True Vine and Hope 4 Kids has brought.
True Vine has been working together with partners to make the hospital self-sufficient to reduce reliance on donor funding. The hospital was recently shaken when donors felt the economic crunch and lost the main support to the hospital.
The plan is to make the hospital rely at least 70% on local income and use the donor funds to supplement the local income. This initiative involves creating income generating projects, Introducing services not offered locally that can be offered to other healthcare providers at a fee, and may also force us to slightly increase the costs.
The organization plans to invest in agricultural projects which are the most viable in this area. Other commercial initiatives have also been deliberated upon by the board and the general assembly.
The hospital receives up to 3000 dollars a month to help in the running of the hospital. To achieve self-sufficiency, we seek another 5000 dollars for 12 months to complete the investments we are making for the hospital. All donations towards self sufficiency will go to that account and will be used for that purpose.
